                                                                                               PROFILE

Prateek Ratnakar, student of 4th year Chemical Engineering, is the General Secretary of Sports Wing and the Convener of Spardha’12. Armed with excellent man-management skills and business acumen, he has proven to be a top-class organizer and a master craftsman of leadership.

His track records speak for his on-field ability. A prolific right-hand batsman and a wily right-arm off spinner, his presence attributes a balance between the two departments. He has represented U.P. and Lucknow at various levels such as U-12, U-14, U-15, U-16 and U-17. He toured Lahore, Pakistan as a team member of India Junior and impressed the organizers immediately.

When it comes to his record in Spardha, no one gets close to him in his fantastic ability to play crucial innings and turn the tables towards his team’s favour. On his debut match in Spardha, he was awarded as Man Of the Match and he has not looked back since. He captained the 2nd year team, guiding them to a unprecedented victory in the Championship. He showed his dedication when he became the top-scorer in Spardha’10 while battling a fracture in his right hand. Captaining the I.T. BHU team in IIT Kanpur sports fest, he inspired them to bring home the coveted gold medal in Championship, which, incidentally, was the first gold medal for I.T. BHU in field games.

He took the whole I.T. BHU by storm when he scored a top-score of 98 runs in Spardha’11 which still remains as the all time highest score made by an individual in Spardha. He retained his Midas touch with batting in IIT Delhi sports fest where he again went on to become the highest scorer of the tournament and secured a silver medal for the I.T. BHU team. The institute awarded him the IT-Colour for his dazzling display as a batsman and as a captain.

His mantra is simple- Hard work always pays.

He comments on his preparation for the oncoming fest “The best of teams always prepare well, the way they perform on field is only an end product of a process of preparing well and perseverance. We practice hard in the morning and evening with regular sessions of conditioning.”
